Important: Microsoft Office update affecting MyPrivate
A recent Microsoft 365 update is currently making the MyPrivate application unusable.
Microsoft has released a Microsoft 365 software update (version 16.0.20326.20072) which, unfortunately, makes the MyPrivate application unusable.
Until Microsoft fixes this issue, the only working solution is to remove this faulty update by reverting to the previous stable version of Microsoft Office.
The steps below explain exactly how to proceed.
Before you begin — please read carefully:
⏱️ The operation takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
🔐 You will need to be able to click “Yes” when a security prompt appears (this requires an administrator account — on most personal computers, your usual account is sufficient).
💾 Save and close anything you are working on in Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc. beforehand. The procedure will automatically close these programs, and any unsaved work would be lost.
Part 1 — Revert to the previous version of Office
Close all Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Teams).
Click the Start button (the Windows logo at the bottom left of your screen).
On your keyboard, type the letters:
cmdDo not press Enter yet. “Command Prompt” will appear at the top of the menu.
Right-click “Command Prompt”, then click “Run as administrator” in the small menu that appears.
A window will open asking: “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?” — click “Yes”.
A black window will open. Click once inside it, then copy the line below and paste it.
Press Enter.
Please wait. After a few moments, a progress window will appear showing the Office download and installation.
Do not close it and do not turn off your computer.
Once the operation is complete, a message will indicate that Office has been updated. You can then close the black window.
Part 2 — Disable automatic updates
Open Word (or Excel, or Outlook — any Office program).
Click File (at the top left).
Click Account (towards the bottom of the left-hand menu).
Click the “Update Options” button.
Click “Disable Updates”. If permission is requested, click “Yes”.
